Tags.We are dedicated to achieving 100% recyclable status for other materials and we are currently working on new exciting developments which we hope to share soon.
They are caffeine free
For the majority of our markets we have two types of teabag : heat-seal and non-heat seal. The vast majority (94%) of our teabags (teabags with a string) are non-heat seal: made up of 100% natural fibres, contain no plastic and are fully home compostable. Heat-seal teabags (teabags without string) do contain some traces of plastic but we have been exploring exciting alternatives based on renewable resources (natural plant materials) which we are hoping to announce soon. For our pyramid teabags we use a plant-based plastic called PLA (polylactic acid) to seal the teabags.PLA is a bio-material made from plant cellulose, also known as bio-plastic, which is completely degradable using industrial composting processes. Unlike with petroleum-based plastics, this means the teabags will leave no residue after they degrade in commercial composting facilities, making them far more environmentally friendly.
We use a specially-designed overwrapping material for the following reasons : To eliminate tampering and ensure a complete product reaches the end-consumer. To preserve freshness through the high property barriers against oxygen and moisture. Protect against abrasions and damage. Nevertheless we are searching for alternative plant-based materials to plastic, which can perform these functions.
